I stumbled upon this idea from Teach Preschool: Salt writing!
I set out a baking sheet filled with salt along with some textured objects, and let the bean go to town. We played together for while. My job was to “erase” after he filled the pan with his creations so that more drawings would fit. We both enjoyed the sensory experience of the salt on our fingertips.
I had the vacuum ready in the event of a salt shower, but after a few reminders that the salt belongs in the tray, the bean was surprisingly mindful at keeping it (mostly) in the pan.
